This weekend: June 2024 Landscape Exhibit, Dimensions 2024, and Prismatic Motion by Keeley Rae at The Art League; Beyond Surface at Pazo Fine Art DC; PRIDE at Portico Gallery; and From Wood to Paper and Back Again at Adah Rose Gallery.

 

 

June 2024 Landscape Exhibit

Join us in celebrating the beauty of landscapes at our yearly Landscape Exhibit! It’s a wonderful chance for members to showcase their works, be it charming country scenes or vibrant cityscapes, in any medium. The exhibition always promises an exciting mix of styles, from classic to abstract. This year’s exhibit features 88 artworks.  Carlton Fletcher, a renowned artist from D.C. and one of the founding members of the Washington Studio School, served as juror.

 

 

Dimensions 2024 Sculpture Exhibit

Our annual Dimensions Sculpture Exhibit showcases a multitude of three-dimensional masterpieces, each one uniquely crafted from a variety of materials. These include ceramics, stone, wood, and even more unconventional mediums like glass and metal. But we don’t stop there. Our collection extends further into the world of mixed media, pushing the boundaries of traditional art. This offers our visitors a visually stunning array of artwork, providing a feast for the senses. We invite you to delve into the world of art from a fresh perspective and experience the wonder of three-dimensional art in Dimensions.

Step into the lively world of June Solo Artist Keeley Rae‘s latest collection, Prismatic Motion. Here, she diverges from her signature quiet stillness and muted hues for a striking exploration of life’s colorful dynamics. Her artwork captures subjects in a playful dance of twists, tumbles, and floats, each movement carrying a sense of grace and power. Rae has created a joyous gathering space where viewers can share in the jubilation of life’s exuberant rhythms.

 

June exhibits at The Art League are on view through July 7.

 

 

Beyond the Surface

Beyond Surface, brings together four Washington metropolitan area based artists—Joanne Kent, Ara Koh, Giulia Livi, and Kristina Penhoet—whose works traverse the realms of painting, sculpture, and the spaces in between. United by a common focus on materiality and surface, these artists each bring forth expertise in ancient materials: clay, wool, porcelain, wood, and oil. Beyond Surface is on view at Pazo Fine Art in Washington, D.C. through August 3, with an opening reception Saturday, June 15, fron 6–8 p.m.; 1932 9th Street NW, #C102, (Enter from 9 1/2 Street).

 

 

Portico PRIDE

Portico Gallery celebrates Pride Month with a group exhibition featuring: Liz Ashe, Jaedon Clarke, Tim DeVenney, Todd Franson, Tom Hill, Wes Holloway, Elisabeth Jacobsen, Richard Kightlinger, John Niederhauser, and John Paradiso. Portico PRIDE represents a community of artists representing a diversity of race, gender, and age, as well as a range of mediums that include photography, drawing, painting, and mixed-media constructions. it is on view through July 27, with an opening reception Saturday, June 15, from 6–8 p.m. Portico Gallery is located in the Studio 3807 Apartments in the Gateway Arts District, 3807 Rhode Island Avenue, Brentwood, Maryland.

 

 

From Wood to Paper and Back Again

From simple gestural marks, to complex layerings and carvings, the artists in From Wood to Paper and Back Again, at Adah Rose Gallery, explore the myriad of ways to create works with paper and wood. The show is curated by artists Mary Freedman and Lisa Rosenstein. It is on view through August 10 with a vernissage Saturday, June 15, from 5-7 p.m.; 3766 Howard Avenue, Kensington, Maryland.
