The July 2024 Open Exhibit, meticulously curated by respected artist and William & Mary professor, Elizabeth Mead, is a testament to the passion and talent within our artistic community.
Vanishing by Holly Cole
Holly Cole’s enchanting exhibit, Vanishing, is a heartfelt tribute to the disappearing species on our planet. Drawing inspiration from the resilience of endangered animals, she creates breathtaking sculptures and quilts using surplus military fabric and sheers. Through her art, Holly warmly highlights the pressing issues of fast-vanishing habitats, trophy hunting, and shifting climates, inviting us all to take a closer look at the world we share with these magnificent creatures.
July exhibits at The Art League are on view through August 4.

Compass Art Center is located at 10335 Kensington Parkway, Kensington, Maryland.
Magnificent Distances by the DC Street Photography Collective
The political arena often dominates the narrative surrounding the nation’s capital. Stereotypical images of power-hungry politicians give an impression that the District is a dark and serious place full of evildoers and over achievers. This exhibition is a collaborative effort to humanize our hometown of Washington, DC. Magnificent Distances aims to add a second DC narrative to our country’s collective consciousness, one that shows a lighter side amidst the tumultuous backdrop — a place where ordinary people live their lives, unperturbed by the federal shadow. It is on view in the Vulcan Gallery at Workhouse Arts Center through July 21; 9518 Workhouse Way, Lorton, Virginia.
Enjoy the weekend!
