Expressive Watercolor: Hone Your Watercolor Skills

Success in watercolor painting is about understanding the nuances of combining paint and water to achieve vibrant, luminous mixes, and subtle transitions. The first half of the semester will be inspired by the looser work of the abstract expressionists artists, such as Mark Rothko and others to overcome inhibitions with the watercolor medium. The second half will focus on honing your skills to your personal inspirations, learning to observe and interpret the dynamic relationships within the pictorial space along with the importance of values, complementary color, and temperature in ways that will immediately improve your work. All levels of painters will benefit from this class, from fearless beginners to professional artists.

Supplies are required for this course. As a service to our students, most supply lists are kept on hand in the Art League Supply Store. The existence of this store gives students the opportunity to obtain supplies in advance and come to class prepared to work. The Art League Supply Store is in studio 217 at the Torpedo Factory Art Center, just around the corner from the Art League School Registration Office.

They are open 7 days a week for your convenience. Due to our large enrollment, we are unable to mail, fax, or read supply lists over the phone. It is the responsibility of the student to acquire their own materials.

Hours: Sunday through Thursday from 11:00am to 5:00pm
Friday and Saturday from 10:00am to 5:00pm
