Painter Juliette Manolié presents her solo exhibit, “Missed Representations”, a show featuring abstract paintings about complexity, contradiction, and ambiguity. Shapes from the natural world emerge from her work, with both human and animal-like features. Manolié describes her pieces as “deliberately hard to read, but not impossible. When viewing my work, color and movement strike first, then symbology provides familiarity. I use visceral gestures such as gouging, scratching, and pouring ink to create these mysterious figures where elements of the female body are partial, contorted, or otherwise misrepresented.”
