November 2024 – “The Art of Mystery and Enigma” by Noreene Janus
Noreene Janus’ solo exhibit “The Art of Mystery and Enigma,” explores the intricate dance between what is revealed and what is obscured. Each large abstract acrylic painting is Janus’ response to life’s intricate puzzles, enigmas, contradictions and inconsistencies. This collection draws on her worldly experiences living in diverse cultures, where each artwork serves as a puzzle wrapped in layers of meaning. The pieces are characterized by bold shapes, piercing lines, a saturated palette and brightly colored lines that weave and twist and turn. Tunnels, steps, and doors suggest paths through different cultural landscapes, while colorful layers create rhythms. This exhibit, as in most abstract art, offers visual answers to unspoken questions. It might challenge the viewer to peel back these layers, uncovering hidden depths and embracing unresolved mysteries.
